Intro :

  • Upcoming changes to REACH information requirements

    The European Commission has revised certain information requirements for registering chemicals under REACH. Companies should start to prepare as the changes will begin to apply in October 2022. ECHA will publish further advice later this year.


  • Five substances added to REACH Authorisation List

    Companies that want to continue using these substances after the agreed sunset dates will need to apply for authorisation.

    The Authorisation List now contains 59 entries.

  • Assessment report for 10 phthalates published
  • Restriction dossiers for terphenyl, hydrogenated and DMAC-NEP submitted
  • Webinar: New developments and regulatory applications of the OECD QSAR Toolbox
  • New intentions to identify a substance of very high concern

                     New intentions have been received for:
                     isobutyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (EC 224-208-8, CAS 4247-02-3);
                     bis(2-ethylhexyl) tetrabromophthalate (EC 247-426-5, CAS 26040-51-7); and
                      barium diboron tetraoxide (EC 237-222-4, CAS 13701-59-2).

  • New substance evaluation conclusion published


  • Consultation on harmonised classification and labelling

    ECHA is looking for comments on the proposals for:

                  pethoxamid (ISO); 2-chloro-N-(2-ethoxyethyl)-N-(2-methyl-1-phenylprop-1-enyl)acetamide (EC -, CAS 106700-29-2);
                  propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (EC 202-307-7, CAS 94-13-3); and
                  α,α'-propylenedinitrilodi-o-cresol (EC 202-374-2, CAS 94-91-7).
    The deadline for comments is 10 June 2022.


  • Recommendations on preparing a summary of product characteristics

Occupational exposure limits:

  • Consultation on cobalt and inorganic cobalt compounds

    ECHA is looking for comments on the scientific report for occupational exposure limits on cobalt and inorganic cobalt compounds.

    The deadline for comments is 10 June 2022.

  • Events

    The next meeting of the European Commission’s REACH Committee will take place on 27-28 April 2022. The agenda is available online
